Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) is a cutting-edge procedure performed to help improve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate without the risk of sexual side effects. Prostatic artery embolization is performed by inserting a catheter into an artery in the leg. The physician then advances the catheter towards the prostate. Once the catheter is positioned in the artery supplying blood to the prostate, tiny particles are injected that reduce blood flow to the prostate, which helps to ultimately reduce the size of the prostate.
